M1911, Utah’s State Gun

Real M1911

Recently, Utah State Legislature saw HB 219 signed into law by Utah Gov. Gary Herbert. The bill designates that the Browning M1911 pistol as the official state firearm. I wasn’t aware that states even declared such things, I for one think its a great gun. Supposedly Utah is the first state to designate the M1911 as its official state firearm. This prolific blaster is actually manufactured right here in Utah surprisingly enough to me.

A little history on the gun: The late John M. Browning, who founded the company that makes the gun, was born in Ogden, Utah, in 1855 and he lived until 1926. He designed the automatic pistol for the U.S. Army, which was bogged down in sporadic battles with guerrilla fighters in the Philippines and needed a quick-firing weapon.

I personally really love the ergonomic feel and weight of my Airsoft version of the gun and

Airsoft Wei Compact 1911

chose it over many, many other secondary weapons.  I use the Wei-E Tech compact 1911 gas gun as my secondary weapon. Not sure that they even manufacture this one anymore because I couldn’t find it readily online. I originally bought this one from evike.com
