BA32 Battleaxe mega PEQ-15 with green LiPo laser, torch – Review

Here’s a submission by FOG:

This PEQ-15 replica features:
-Built-in high-powered green laser and focused flashlight.
-Powered via one LiPo battery (included). Also includes needed charger.
-Durable, heavy construction.
-Several modes: laser only, light only, both together, or off.
-Has a removable remote.
-Secondary “on” button on top of the unit also powers the selected items depending on what mode you’re in.
-Flashlight is powered by a 150 lumen CREE bulb.
So I purchased this PEQ-15 box after seeing it on display at Weapon Blender. I just had to add it to my collection of PEQ boxes. What made this one unique is that it isn’t for storing your AEG’s battery, in fact you couldn’t fit one in there. This box is fully functional, okay not exactly like the real thing but close enough. The quality of construction and functionality are very impressive.

Nothing special just a box. The label is wrong though, it is a green laser.  Comes with PEQ box, charger, USA adapter for charger, decals, and instructions.

After glancing at the instructions (written in literal Chinese to English, quite humorous in fact) I started checking out the different functions. The PEQ comes with an installed LiPo battery (3.7v) even though the instructions show it using a C123 battery.

The control knob really works and controls different functions -(clockwise from the left) laser, off, light, laser, and laser/light. The unit can be activated by either the remote pressure switch or the large rubber coated switch on top. And surprise, surprise laser aiming can actually be accomplished by the adjustment screws.  The main switch works with a positive click although on the extreme right contact it does not match up with the markings. The adjustment screws give limited sighting adjustment but on my gun they are usable.

The led installed in the “flashlight” is a CREE style with an advertised 150 lumen.  I will take their word for that, it is very bright.  The green laser is also bright comparable to the 5mw green laser pointer that I have.  The dot is a little larger but in it’s use as a targeting device, will work fine.

As stated previously the instructions are “adequate”, at least with the pictures you can figure everything out.  If nothing else they are quite funny, I can only imagine what it would be like if the reverse translation were done (English to Chinese).

CONCLUSION

I can’t wait to try this out at the next night game.  Hopefully I will be the first with this new toy, mega cool factor.  So far, out of the box the CREE led has been on for 30 minutes and is still going bright, so they must have charged the battery up before it left China.

With quality of finish and construction, included LiPo and charger this is a good deal at $64.99. I guess this PEQ box would be perfect if you could include a battery for your AEG. Weapon Blender offers a 30 day warranty so you should be able to ring out any problems in that time.
