Find The Sniper – Episode 6 – HD

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016 and AirsoftUtah present, Find the Sniper Episode 6.  Back for the first time in 2015 is the series that features Airsoft sniper “K-factor”. Also known for his sniper cams on his ever growing YouTube channel: kfactor39,

This episode was filmed near a silver mining town in northern Utah.  Many games are hosted by many different Airsoft teams on this field which includes foundations and ruins of a once thriving mining operation, thus dubbed by airsofters as “Silver City”.

The idea of the video series: “Find the Sniper” is that the sniper always has a clear view of the camera lens that is filming him, he isnt just dug down into the ground deep under a bush not facing you, so in essence he can see you the viewer. With exception to one time where we simulated an angle where someone would have inadvertently walked up on the sniper, so he had to turn around to take a shot.  So will you see him before he takes a shot?  Sort of the fun I hope people get out of watching.

Awesome Airsoft Sniper – Snipe-O-Rama

Monday, June 30th, 2014

— The event was Snipe-O-Rama, held by the Black Thorn Airsoft group. To those curious, I think I may need to clarify for those who actually read any of this. Airsoft Utah and are not affiliated with any airsoft team or group, we are a small collective that like to play airsoft and create airsoft related videos, we also like to play quite a bit with BTA. Now that this is clearer than mud.

In the video we find K-factor searching for his sniping home. He explains a little to us the viewer about what his methods are, but he can’t explain them all, they are his secrets. So the rest of the time we watch him, observing a bit of his technique here and there, maybe perceiving his patience watching his movements.

The footage was a combination of sniper scope video donated by K-factor and the rest by myself (Green)

The following are snippets from an AAR (After Action Report) given by “Trooper” who is a team leader from Black Thorn Airsoft.

This year our annual sniper game attracted over sixty players and as always it was a pleasure having you all there!

Additional and special thanks for all of your patience during the moose encounter. Just after the start of the second game of the day, four of us were just moving out when we nearly ran into a moose cow and her calf. We had to move players off the field and call out the hidden snipers before EVER SO CAREFULLY coaxing Mrs. Moose to take here babe and move on. With luck Sparky got some great footage!

The games:

Game 1) BTA’s usual Two-Team Team Death Match to get everyone accustomed to the field and warmed up for the days games.

Game 2) SNIPE-O-RAMA Round-1: Two teams did battle to eliminate each other while snipers stalked the field. The first two snipers out were eliminated from the competition.

Game 3) SNIPE-O-RAMA Round-2: Eight teams of at least five members wearing balloons had to patrol a road twice while snipers tried to pop their specific balloon color. Two snipers eliminated their targets.

Game 4) SNIPE-O-RAMA Round-3: in the final round, the two successful snipers from round two along with two spotters each had to approach a defended clearing and eliminate their own colored balloons to reveal poker chips inside. After a few pitched battles, with minutes to spare, Redneck moved in close and eliminated two balloons for victory!

It was hot, we shot and were shot, snipers were sneaky, and there was even a moose! By the time we were done we had a winner! Everyone please join us in congratulating Redneck for winning BTA’s Operation: “SNIPE-O-RAMA — 2013” Sniper-Of-The-Year!

Juggernaut Airsoft Game – Time to Run!

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

The Juggernaut game aka “Operation May the Fourth be with You” was executed in May 2013. Black Thorn Airsoft Hosted the event. Team command “Ghost”, led some of the games, which happened to involve himself as his alter ego: “Juggernaut”. The games were a blast! specially because everyone got blasted trying to get the Juggernaut on their team.  There was more to the games than just shooting each other too, they were objective based, it was basically capture the flag with a juggernaut thrown in the middle of things to make it more interesting.

Operation: Revenge 2 – Big Airsoft Game

Friday, May 24th, 2013

Operation Revenge 2 was hosted by Black Thorn Airsoft on April 27th 2013.  There were over 100 players that morning.  Cameras used were the Canon T2i and the Go Pro 3 Black. The quad copter used is a Rotor Concept HPQ1, its a great quad copter but for the money i spent on it I could of had a GPS controlled DJI Phantom with an IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control) which I hope to have in the near future.  Before I go on and on about quad copters, check out this game video, give it a thumbs up if you will and then I will have more about quad copters below.

More about quad copters! – DJI; which is the company that makes a very futuristic looking quad copter that has three amazing features such as GPS stabilizing which allows for locking your hover in once you let go of the controls and IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control) which is excellent for beginners and also has this great feature called RTH (Return to Home) that when and if the copter looses signal or you turn off the controller, the Phantom will return to where is originally took off from and land nice and carefully. DJI will also be releasing a gimbal unit that will attach to existing DJI Phantoms that will assist in the capture of perfectly smooth footage from your Go Pro 2 or 3.  Now you will probably end up spending around $1,600 dollars with the quad copter and stabilizer, (when it is actually released) so you will either need to have some money to blow on some super fun toy or have a job like mine where you can actually use it in film making and write it off on taxes as a business expense.  But anyway, there are great videos that go in depth about the DJI Phantom as well as the steadying gimbal device they will hopefully soon release that I am busting at the seams to own! Did I just say that? weird, it was the first thing off the top of my head.

Below are some links about the phantom and one of my favorite FPV flights from a RC copter!

Here is a review of the DJI Phantom by Vidmuze:
A recent video about FPV flying:
I little info by the man himself about the Phantom’s IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control)
The coolest FPV flying ive ever seen!

Also, I am looking at doing some FPV flying with my quad copter too.  FPV flying is First Person View flying.  In my case this is where I will hook a wireless transmitter and receiver to my quad that will transmit a signal from my Go Pro Hero 3 Black (which is the lightest and greatest Hero of the Go Pro’s to date) to a pair of goggles which enables me to fly the copter as if I am aboard flying it.  I have yet to fly FPV but I am super psyched about it and cant wait to receive my FPV kit.  I bought my FPV kit online at Hobby King along with  some upgraded antennas. Oh, if you have or are buying that kit you’ll need an adapter to see what your GoPro Hero is seeing (The previous links will take you there) Now ive noticed that previous to me buying these they were on back-order, but a day later the stock was full, so check back if that happens cause they seem to be on the ball with restocking. I don’t have anything else to say, so comment on this post if you’d like to talk more!

Airsoft Featured Player – Juggernaut

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Dread the Juggernaut! unless he’s on your team, then be at ease for as long as it lasts!
Black Thorn Airsoft’s Ghost created his own Juggernaut alter ego.

Here are some details about his suit:
Starting towards the top; The collar is made from a 5gal bucket and attached to a set of football shoulder pads. He used a hockey chest pad for the main back protection weaved both into a load bearing vest. Then, catchers pads for the shin pads and gauntlet armor. Thin plastic for the hip and cod piece armor! Spray paint; the color of choice! Added molle and pouches to fill in the gaps and for added tactical essence to the rig!

Information about his gun:
it’s built off of the m249 saw, he converted the trigger and corresponding handle to a push button and top carry design. Then added the grenade launcher and large outer barrel to make it look bigger! Only shoots 180 fps so he can mow players down at any engagement distance!

Featured Airsoft Player – Tommy Tart

Monday, April 8th, 2013

This player has been known to use a “Tommy Gun” and eat Pop Tarts.  His friends call him Tommy Tart, and so the call sign stuck.  He also has been involved in reenactments in 4th of July parades.  His motivation in game play involves spraying and praying with his BAR support weapon and tries to maintain a good K/D (kill to death ratio) in games.
